SANYO Simultaneously Releases a Professional Security Network Camera Series Worldwide

　Tokyo, October 1, 2009 – SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that it will launch a Full Lineup of advanced 6 new Full HD / Full Frame Rate models in the fast-growing high-resolution network camera area of the security camera industry. SANYO had launched the Zoom type (VCC-HD4000) as a pioneer of Full HD last year, and have been gaining high reputation in the market. It was selected as “Product of the year” at the IFSEC2009, the most prestigious award in Europe which leads to a lot of installation.
　New line up include CS Mount type (VCC-HD2300, VCC-HD2500), Vandal-Resistant Dome type(VCC-HD3300, VCC-HD3500), Zoom type(VCC-HD4600) and PTZ type(VCC-HD5400). These are the major types of security cameras in terms of product shape, and they will expand the range of possible installation environments. The new line up will be available starting from November 24, 2009.
　For performance advantage, to achieve one-rank higher image processing and sophisticated functions, all 6 models incorporate the newly-developed “Xacti HD-Pro”^*2 which is an upgraded version of the image processing engine used in SANYO’s Dual Camera Xacti that is highly regarded in the consumer video camera market.　For network-related advantage, the “Optimum IP-Pro”^*3 is incorporated to configure the Twin Engine system. The Twin Engine system ensures powerful and smooth operation by doing heavily-loaded image processing and network processing separately.
　Further, by applying SANYO’s ultra-miniature mounting technology acquired through the development of Dual Camera Xacti and digital cameras, a 40%^*4 size reduction over previous SANYO models was achieved. Consequently, installation of a security camera in a way that does not spoil the interior ambience has become possible, which expands possible use environments compared to conventional products.

1. World’s First!^*1 Full Lineup of Full HD / Full Frame Rate Models 　

- The New HD Series consists of 4 product types and 6 models all compatible with Full HD. It’s going to be a powerful lineup in the HD camera market.
- Full HD (1080p: 1920x1080) enables high-definition, higher precision security surveillance.
- All models are compatible with 30ips^*5 full frame rate. Smooth and natural video imaging with high-definition image quality ensures capturing of crucial moments.

- With the product lineup including the following 4 types, SANYO will meet the diverse needs of customers by being able to flexibly create high image quality network camera solutions possible only with its camera products.
(1) CS Mount: Lens selection is possible.
(2) Vandal-Resistant Dome: Fixed dome-shaped vandal-resistant unit incorporating a high-resolution vari-focal lens.
(3) Zoom: High-resolution 10x AF optical zoom lens is incorporated.
(4) PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom^*6): High-resolution 10x AF optical zoom lens rotates for broad range surveillance.

2. Powerful and comfortable operating environment realized through Twin Engine
　 incorporating New “Xacti HD-Pro”^*2 and “Optimum IP-Pro”^*3

- For the New HD Series, SANYO’s high quality motion picture technology is actively applied, which is used in the Xacti Series that has been leading the digital movie camera market since its launch. Following the highly-regarded image processing engine used in the existing model (VCC-HDN1), “Xacti HD-Pro”^*2 has been developed for professional security cameras by further upgrading the advanced image processing engine used in Dual Camera “Xacti.”
- Top-end models incorporate the Twin Engine system equipped with the new network oriented engine “Optimum IP Pro”^*3 . In conventional network cameras, image processing is heavily-loaded. The Twin Engine system makes the operating environment smoother and more comfortable by doing image processing and network processing separately to drastically reduce processing load.

　For the new engine, functional enhancements have been made and new functions incorporated to meet market and customer needs.
The following are the main functions:
Multi-Streaming^*7
- The New HD Series is compatible with Dual Codec, supporting both the latest video compression standard “H.264” and the still image compression standard “JPEG.” Smooth video-based surveillance or clear still image-based surveillance can be selected depending on the intended use.- Twin Engine models incorporate Multi-Streaming Function to enable simultaneous output and transmission of “H.264” and “JPEG” up to 4(Quad) streams^*8. For example, while using low-resolution streams for real-time surveillance of multiple places through multiple cameras using surveillance software, the full HD setting can be selected for the recording stream so that in the event of a crime taking place the suspect may be identified easily in the clear high-definition images.

Video Analytics^*9 for High Precision Surveillance
- The Video Analytics function enables higher precision surveillance by utilizing preset subject information in terms of size and behavior to identify the behavior of certain subjects.
Convenient Focus Assist^*10
- Convenient Focus Assist Function essential for adjustment is incorporated to facilitate focus adjustment upon installation.
- SANYO’s original “Focus Assist Function” makes installation work dramatically easier. By simply pointing the lens at a target and pressing the Focus Assist adjustment button, the camera automatically detects the target and adjusts itself to the optimum position.
- Fine focus adjustment can be done manually by operating the fine adjustment button.
- Focus adjustment is also done automatically upon day/night switching (Color, Day/Night)^*10. Fuss-free clear imaging is possible 24 hours a day.

3. Approximately 40%^*4 size reduction realized to create a compact appearance (All models)

- By fully utilizing SANYO’s miniaturization and mounting technical know-how acquired through the development of its digital movie cameras and digital cameras over the years, a size reduction of approximately 40%^*4 over previous SANYO models has been achieved, realizing uniquely compact products offered by no one else.
- Through making such compact model designs, SANYO has taken on the challenge of remaking the stereotype of a security camera. Now, a security camera, which has been a highly-obtrusive object, can naturally blend in with the installation environment. Further, size reduction will lead to expansion of use applications in addition to security surveillance.

Other Features

- Reliable SD^*11 and HDD^*12 recording
An SD^*11 card slot is incorporated to ensure reliable security surveillance. In the case where a network problem occurs while saving records with the optional software, records may be saved temporarily in the SD^*11 card. Further, a dedicated external HDD^*12 can be connected for long-duration recording, which is a unique feature offered by no one else. With a network camera being capable of saving records, it can be used as a camera and DVR simultaneously and can meet the diverse needs of customers.
- “Cropping Function”^*13 to enable surveillance of only the spot to be observed
“Cropping Function” ^*13 is incorporated for cropping high-definition images to be displayed in a VGA-equivalent size. Clipping only the desired portion facilitates effective use of the network bandwidth.
- “Digital PTZ”^*14 for all-round surveillance in high image quality
By clipping the observation target area from the entire photographed image^*15 at most 4 parts and display in a VGA-equivalent size, Pan/Tilt/Zoom^*6 can be done digitally. With this digital PTZ^*14 function, it is possible to easily move to and zoom-in on the spot to be observed, increasing the efficiency of surveillance operation.
- “Auto IP Setup Utility” for easy IP address setting
Dedicated software is provided as a bundled item to automate the painful process of IP address setting. By connecting a camera to a network and activating/operating this software, the camera connected to the corresponding network is detected and IP address setting is done automatically. In addition to this auto IP setup utility software, a variety of useful software programs are provided as bundled items, such as HDC downloader/viewer for downloading and viewing recorded camera images, and VA-SW3050LITE software to enable multi-screen surveillance by up to 16 split screens. Due to these software programs, buying a camera unit is all you need to start network surveillance.
- “HDMI Terminal”^*16 for high-grade full HD image transmission

For SANYO network cameras, in addition to the SANYO-made network surveillance software, the Software Development Kit (SDK) is provided to enable user-level application development and integration into network surveillance software by other companies. With this, each user can construct their system flexibly. In addition, SANYO is a Contributing Member of ONVIF^* and will be able to respond to protocol standardization which is expected to be done in the near future.

Outline and Background

　The global demand for security cameras is growing, and accordingly, the setting up of networks and use of cameras capable of higher image quality are rapidly expanding. The global market demand for network cameras is expected to reach the 1.8 million unit level in 2009 and the 3.1 million unit level in 2011. Of these, the number of megapixel cameras will be around 0.33 million in 2009 and more than double that in 2011 to around 0.79 million. (Based on company survey)
