Kaken Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. ("Kaken", Head office: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, President and Representative Director: Shiro Inui) would like to express its deepest sympathy for the people affected by the earthquake and tsunami that occurred in the coastal area of Tohoku district on March 11, 2011. The current status and the impact of Kaken by the disaster, based on the most updated information, are as follows.
1.Damage Situation
(1) Employees
Kaken has confirmed that all of its employees are safe.
(2) Facilities
Kaken's Shizuoka Plant (Fujieda-shi, Shizuoka) was not seriously damaged and its operations steadily continue.
At some of Kaken's sales branches in the stricken region, modest property damages were observed. Retaining the safety of employees as Kaken's first priority, Kaken will keep investigating the situation further.
2.Impact on Business Performance
Kaken is currently assessing the impact on business performance as a result of the earthquake, the rolling blackouts scheduled in Tokyo metropolitan area and other related events. Kaken will disclose pertinent information in case a significant impact to Kaken is estimated.
