Cabin's all five products to be redesigned for a more luxurious look, taking on a concept of ''cigarettes for sophisticated adults''
Nationwide launch at the beginning of November 2011
Tokyo, September 28, 2011 --- Japan Tobacco Inc. (JT) (TSE: 2914) today announced a redesign of all five of its Cabin products, which will be launched at the beginning of November 2011(*1) nationwide. Cabin is known for its roasted flavour and original tobacco aroma.
Since its debut in 1978, Cabin has been a major JT brand in Japan. With its roasted flavour from American blending(*2) and rich aroma of original tobacco, the brand has been the choice of many consumers.
All five Cabin products are to be redesigned, without modifying the flavours, to further enhance the patronage of our long-time consumers, while evolving the brand to meet diversifying consumer tastes.
(*1) The timing of replacement with the new designs will vary among retailers.
(*2) A blending method primarily of burley tobacco known for roasted flavour and rich smoke.
Redesigned for a more luxurious look, taking on a concept of ''cigarettes for sophisticated adults''
Taking on a concept of ''cigarettes for sophisticated adults,'' the Cabin products will be redesigned to evoke the distinctive image of their roasted flavour and rich aroma, appropriate for an article of taste enjoyed by adults. The package expresses the cigarettes' quality with an elegant design featuring the brand's red colour and the ''CA'' label signifying ''the leisurely passing of quality time'' in all five Cabin products, ensuring overall brand consistency.
Hypocorisms unique to Cabin introduced to promote further patronage
In addition to retaining the official names, hypocorisms, or informal names, related to the boat cabins from which the brand name was derived, are given to each of the five products following the redesign, to further enhance consumer patronage of Cabin. The hypocorisms express the image of spaces gathered in or items used by adult smokers enjoying both their professional and their private lives.
Cabin Mild Box
Hypocorism: Original Red 8
The hypocorism expresses the brand's red colour and indicates that it is Cabin's symbolic product by calling it ''Original.''
Cabin Super Mild Box
Hypocorism: Vessel Black 5
Inspired by a sedately cruising vessel, its dignified black colour is also expressed in the hypocorism.
Cabin Ultra Mild Box
Hypocorism: Cruiser Silver 2
Inspired by a hurtling cruiser, its silver colour signifying a sense of speed is also expressed in the hypocorism.
Cabin One Tasty 100's Box
Hypocorism: Anchor White 1
Inspired by an anchor as marking a place where you can be yourself, white as a natural colour is also expressed.
Cabin Roast Blend 100's Box
Hypocorism: Jibe Red 8
Inspired by meaning of a jibe as a leader and pioneer of the Cabin brand, its rich red package colour is also expressed.
