OKI named a 2019 Noteworthy IT Strategy Company
Selection reflects regard for innovations and efforts to solve social issues in work to achieve the SDGs
TOKYO, April 23, 2019 -- OKI (TOKYO: 6703) today announced that it has been selected as a 2019 Noteworthy IT Strategy Company in the selection of Competitive IT Strategy Companies for 2019 conducted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE). Within the framework of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the selection reflects high regard for the company's group-wide innovation creation activity "Yume Pro" and "Social Infrastructure × IoT" initiative.
Competitive IT Strategy Companies are selected to highlight proactive use of information technology based on medium- and long-term goals, including efforts to enhance corporate value and competitive strengths. Noteworthy IT Strategy Companies are companies working on noteworthy initiatives, selected from METI's viewpoint with the intention of expanding the basis of competitive IT strategy companies.
OKI believes its selection reflects the high regard in which the potential of its various initiatives, including the ones named below, are held, based on the perspective of the SDGs.
- Innovation creation activity "Yume Pro":
Companywide activity based on SDGs, which promotes business creation, reforms focusing on human resources and organizational culture, and digital transformation (DX)
- "Social Infrastructure × IoT" initiatives to help solve social issues (specific examples given below):
- Efforts to develop an automated driving assistance system, thereby realizing
infrastructure-cooperated ITS services integrated with 5G networks
- R&D to realize marine IoT services, including IoT service against poaching that utilize underwater acoustic sensing, implemented as a Project to Support IoT Service Creation under contract tothe Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications
