Release of two thermal printers “MCP31C” and “MCP31CB” capable of fast charge and communication with Android™ devices and Windows tablets, and wired connection to Internet

-New lineup of mC-Print®3 series, MCP31C and MCP31CB -
Star Micronics releases two new models, MCP31C and MCP31CB, from the 3-inch thermal printer “mC- Print®3”
series of the mPOS (*2) peripherals brand “mCollection® to the overseas market in advance.
These products have achieved the following as the industry's first printers equipped with a USB-C® Power Delivery
compatible port.
- ① Fast charge and communication by supporting USB-C Power Delivery
- ② Capable of wired connection to Internet via a printer by connecting a device to the USB-C port
The function ② is the “SteadyLAN™” solution, which was previously available only with iOS (*3) devices via the Lightning-USB cable.
Recently, the use of Android™ (*4) devices and Windows tablets are increasing in the mPOS/mobile order market. On the other hand, device manufacturers are accelerating support for USB-C Power Delivery and it is expected that devices capable of fast charge by supporting this standard will become more popular in the future. We launch these new printers in order to quickly provide the user benefits of this latest technology to the mPOS/mobile order market.
The existing models of this series (MCP31L/MCP31LB) can use “SteadyLAN™”, which enables both fast charge of tablets and printing, and wired connection to the Internet via the printer, only with the iOS devices. However, there is a problem that this function cannot be used when the device is other than iOS.
To solve this problem, the new printers are equipped with the industry’s first USB-C port supporting USB-C Power Delivery, which enables both fast charge and printing and wired connection to Internet via USB cable with Android™ devices and Windows tablets.
Because of their advantages such as simple installation with simple cabling, improved communication stability by wired connection to Internet, stylish design and enhanced connectivity with peripheral devices, MCP31C and MCP31CB can be used not only as a receipt printer but also for various applications such as a kitchen printer, mobile order reception, even at stores using an Android™ device or a Windows tablet.
We are already proud of a high market share in mPOS printers, and we will enhance related products in the mPOS and mobile orders fields and aim to expand our market share via this new product launch. We will continue to support store operations by providing various store solutions.
