Printer Control Software Development Kit for React Native™ ^(*1) will be released in late March 2021

- First in the industry! Supports development of connection with Star printers for React Native apps -

Star Micronics announces the release of the “StarXpand™ SDK for React Native”, a software development kit for Star printer control for the most popular cross-platform framework React Native. It will be released in late March 2021.

With the spread of smartphones and tablets, the mobile POS (mPOS^(*2)) market using mobile terminals has made remarkable progress. From the beginning of this market, we have been the first to provide software development kits (SDKs) for various operating systems (OSs) such as iOS^(*3), Android™^(*4), and Windows^{® (*5)}.

In the past, mobile applications that run on mobile terminals have been developed exclusively for each OS, such as iOS and Android. However, in recent years, "cross-platform development " is attracting attention. It allows most of the programs of an application to be developed with a same code for multiple OSs.

Cross-platform development is gaining increasing attention from mPOS developers and system developers for fast-growing food delivery services and is expected to become one of the important options for application development in the future. To respond to this new technology trend, we have developed the "StarXpand SDK for React Native", the SDK for React Native cross-platform development framework, for the first time in the receipt printer industry ^(*6). In addition, to improve the convenience of system developers, we will also publish this SDK on the web service "GitHub ^(*7)" where developers around the world can freely publish and share program codes.

This SDK supports the development of connecting and controlling Star printers in applications that utilize React Native. Especially for system developers that develop applications for multiple OSs, it contributes to shortening the development man-hours and maintenance costs related to printer connection.
