Sojitz and EMI Establish Joint Venture Company in Indonesia to Begin Rooftop Solar Generation Business
Sojitz has executed a capital increase subscription for the newly established company, PT Surya Nippon Nusantara(SNN) through its investment in PT ENERGI MITRA INVESTAMA(EMI)(*1), the largest rooftop solar power developer company in Indonesia. SNN aims to provide decarbonized energy solutions including rooftop solar power generation geared towards industrial and commercial customers in Indonesia.

EMI, as a leading player in the rooftop solar energy developer, holds the largest track record of installations in Indonesia. Through their business unit, SUN Energy, they currently own and operate more than 70 MWp of solar energy system portfolios in Indonesia. In addition, they are involved in the EV charger business, which integrates with smartphone applications, and the REC (Renewable Energy Certificate) platform business, utilizing blockchain technology. EMI is actively committed to promoting clean energy initiatives to all sectors by building an integrated and strong business ecosystem to robust growth.
SNN plans to install a total of 100 MWp of solar power facilities, primarily in the Greenland International Industrial Center located within the comprehensive urban area of Kota Deltamas (*2), by 2030. Furthermore, in order to contribute to the decarbonization efforts of its customers in Indonesia, SNN intends to leverage the business expertise of Sojitz and EMI. They plan to explore the implementation of battery storage, EV-related businesses, energy efficiency services, and the zero-emission fuel supply services such as hydrogen, ammonia, and biofuels.
Sojitzs investment in SNN is part of their long-term vision, Sustainability Challenge, aimed towards the year 2050. Sojitz is committed to strongly supporting the growth of SNN and contributing to decarbonization efforts in Indonesia as well as the development of the clean energy industry.

(*2) The joint project between Sojitz and Sinar Mas Group, one of Indonesias largest conglomerates. This collaboration involves a comprehensive urban and industrial park development project located in Bekasi Regency, approximately 20 km from Jakarta. The project encompasses a land development area of around 3,200 hectares and includes a large-scale industrial park spanning approximately 2,200 hectares, as well as residential areas, commercial facilities, hospitals, schools, and government institutions, forming an integrated city.
