Victory in Design Right Infringement Case in China Involving
"JUKI" Industrial Sewing Machines
Juki Corporation sued in China two companies, Typical Sewing Machine Wanping Machinery Co., Ltd. and Suzhou Wanping Sewing Equipment Co., Ltd., for design right infringements involving industrial sewing machines. We hereby notify you that rulings have been finally issued in favor of Juki Corporation, acknowledging the design right infringement. Juki Corporation strives daily to promote technological innovation in order to achieve customer satisfaction, and the beautiful and smart appearance designs for our products, recognized as proof of our sophisticated technology, have allowed us to succeed in winning our customers' trust in the "JUKI" Brand. The rulings issued in favor of Juki Corporation in three recent cases are evidence of this. In May 2007, Juki Corporation established an Intellectual Property Department in JUKI (CHINA) CO., LTD., a subsidiary in China that engages in activities to protect our intellectual property rights and as such works to detect infringements in China. So far, we have filed intellectual property infringement lawsuits in China sixteen times (including these recent three cases). In eight of these cases, rulings were issued; in most cases in our favor. At present, we have discovered the existence of infringements committed by several entities, and we will further enhance our measures and continue our activities to prevent the spread of products infringing our intellectual property rights and protect the principle of fair market competition.
