80 Ton/Year Reduction in CO

Emissions Expected
Nippon Flour Mills to Replace 70 Business Vehicles with Hybrids
Nippon Flour Mills Co., Ltd. will replace some of its fleet of business vehicles with hybrid cars as a
part of its efforts to reduce resource and energy consumption in the interest of global environmental conservation, a corporate social responsibility.
By 2014, approximately 70 of 160 vehicles owned by the company will be replaced by hybrid cars,
with the exception of those for cold-weather regions. This is expected to reduce our annual carbon dioxide emissions by about 80 tons.
Amid global efforts for dealing with environmental issues, Prime Minister Hatoyama announced that
Japan would aim to, by 2020, reduce its level of greenhouse gas emissions by 25% compared to 1990. Measures to reduce CO
2
emissions are urgently needed. As a policy our company pursues corporate
management that seeks to harmonize people and the environment, and targets have been set for each company division in a range of measures aimed at reducing emissions.
With a view toward also introducing electric and fuel cell vehicles, we will continually strive to
achieve targets for CO
2
emissions reduction. In the future, Nippon Flour Mills will continue to actively
pursue measures to pass down our beautiful Earth to our children.
