[SG Motors] Using instant noodle cup production waste as a truck interior finishing material
Development and deployment of ECO-body vehicles highly commended
Wins the Good Practice Award of the 11th Green Purchasing Award (11/9/2009)
SG Motors Co., Ltd. received the Good Practice Award of the 11th Green Purchasing Award* in recognition of its ECO-body, developed under the concept of truck bodies with less negative environmental impact.
SG Motors is a member company of SG Holdings Group, whose key operating unit is Sagawa Express Co., Ltd. As befits a total vehicle business entity, the principal business lines of SG Motors are vehicle maintenance and sales, as well as production of vehicle bodies. In June 2003, SG Motors developed the ECO-body, which features greater environmental friendliness and safety performance. To date, the company has built and shipped a total of 7,400 ECO-body units. The interior finishing materials used in the ECO-body do not include wooden materials. Instead, the company employs board panels comprising 100% resin recycled from waste produced in the manufacture of instant noodle cups. Furthermore, to reduce CFC emissions, a non-CFC-foamed heat insulator is used for the panel. The company also uses plantation wood as a flooring material for the vehicle body, with the aim of contributing to forest conservation. The award was presented in recognition of the ECO-body, which embodies all these environmental efforts.
SG Motors will remain committed to various research and development projects from the perspective of truck bodies with less negative environmental impact.
