Nomura hires Simon Western as Managing Director, Financial Institutions
New York, May 11, 2010 – Nomura Securities North America, LLC, today announced Simon Western has joined as a managing director in Investment Banking. Simon will be based in New York, where he will work in the Financial Institutions Group.
"Simon's strong track record and proven expertise in advising financial institutions will help us to build our growing Americas investment banking franchise and execute our client-focused, solutions-driven strategy," said Glenn H. Schiffman, head of Investment Banking for the Americas region.
Simon joins Nomura from Bank of America Merrill Lynch where he worked in the Financial Institutions Group and focused on asset management companies, including both traditional and alternative asset managers. Previously he was the Co-Head, Alternative Asset Management Practice, Financial Institutions Group at Merrill Lynch & Co. from 2007 to 2008. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Simon was managing director, Head of Asset Management and Brokerage Practice, Financial Institutions Group at Banc of America Securities, LLC. Simon worked in the Financial Institutions Groups at Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York from 1997 to 2003 and at Merrill Lynch & Co. from 1990 to 1997. He began his career at Midland Bank, now part of HSBC, in London, England.
Simon graduated from the Business School at The City University (London) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Banking and International Finance.
