3’ IVT GeneChip® microarray experiments
Precision System Science, Co., Ltd. (PSS) has received GeneChip-compatible™ Status from
Affymetrix Inc. for automated target RNA preparation on the PSS Magtration® 12XP. To achieve this
Status, PSS has demonstrated that it meets the high quality standards of Affymetrix Inc., the world’s
leading manufacturer of microarray technology, headquartered in Santa Clara, California, USA. The
award status enables PSS to market the PSS Magtration® 12XP automated solution and provide
support to the Affymetrix customer base.

In the gene expression analysis market, where Affymetrix GeneChip® 3’IVT is leading, sample
preparation methods have been manually handled, while the introduction of compact system has
been much demanded to automate the complex sample handling. Magtration® 12XP enables
simultaneous handling of 12 samples, which performs stable and reproducible analysis without
irregularity caused by varied level of operating skills.

PSS will further seek automation technologies in many fields as it has realized consistent
automated processing from enzyme reaction to sample purification in addition to DNA/RNA extraction.
As Affymetrix commenced commercial sales of the GeneChip® system for research use in 1994,
GeneChip® has become de fact standard in the molecular biology industry.
