Impact of the Tohoku Earthquake
Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka, Japan; President: Masayo Tada;
hereinafter called “DSP”) expresses its deepest sympathy for victims of the earthquake and our
thoughts are with those personally affected by the Tohoku Earthquake, which devastated the
region on March 11, 2011. DSP Group was affected by the earthquake as follows.
1. Regarding Employees
DSP has confirmed that all of its and its affiliates’ employees are safe.
2. Production and Logistic Facilities
Production facilities were not damaged. In Tokyo Distribution Center (Kazo, Saitama), DSP’s
logistic hub in Eastern Japan, the operations are suspended because of the damage to a crane
in the facility. DSP has already begun to restore operations, and is ready for shipping a few
products today. As backup measures until full restoration of Tokyo Distribution Center, DSP
uses Kobe Distribution Center (Kobe, Hyogo) and Osaka Distribution Center (Ibaraki, Osaka) to
supply a gap and shipment to Eastern Japan has already started.
3. Marketing Activities
Employees working at Kita-tohoku Branch, Minami-tohoku Branch, Ibaraki Branch and
Kita-kanto Branch have been instructed to remain on standby at home with maintaining its top
priority of securing the safety of its employees at the moment.
4. Impact on Business Performance
DSP is currently assessing the impact of the earthquake upon its business performance and will
quickly disclose pertinent information should it discover that its earnings are likely to be
significantly impacted.
