Aid to Victims and Special Treatments for Victim Policyholders of the
Earthquakes

The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company, Limited (the “Company”; President: Koichiro Watanabe) would
like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims of the earthquakes centered in Tohoku and northern Nagano Prefecture in Japan. Given the situation, the Company today decided to offer aid to the victims and special treatment for the policyholders affected by the earthquakes as follows: 1. Special treatment for the policyholders affected by the earthquakes (1) Premiums to be paid by the policyholders affected by the earthquakes The Company extends grace periods for the policyholders affected by the earthquakes to defer their premium payment by six more months, if they are incapable of paying premiums for reasons associated with the earthquakes. (2) Claims, benefits and policy loans to the policyholders affected by the earthquakes The Company offers the policyholders affected by the earthquakes simplified procedures for claims, benefits and policy loans in order for them to shorten the time required to receive their payouts. 2. Non-application of earthquake exemption clauses Although the Company, under the terms of accident riders, holds an option not to pay, or cut some portion of, accidental death benefits and/or accidental hospitalization benefits in the event of earthquakes and other certain disasters, the Company has decided not to apply such earthquake exemption clauses to the policyholders affected by the earthquakes at this time and, therefore, pay out all necessary accidental death benefits, etc. to them. 3. Aid to people in the quake area In order to assist people in the quake area, the Company will send support teams and relief goods, including water and towels. As some of our branches and unit offices in the quake area might be closed due to the earthquake, please contact our call centers for procedures and inquiries associated with life insurance policies.
