Samsung selects THine’s V-by-One®HS as the next generation interface for high-end LCD panels
Tokyo (August 7, 2008) – THine Electronics, Inc. (JASDAQ:6769), the global leader in high-speed serial interface and provider of mixed-signal LSI for flat panel displays, announced today that Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., LCD Business has selected THine’s high-speed serial interface, V-by-One®HS, as the next generation interface for high-end LCD panels from 2009.
V-by-One®HS has been developed to offer capabilities for television markets that are requiring ever-higher frame rates and higher resolutions such as ultra high definition (UD) display panels with 4K x 2K (3840 x 2160) pixels. For example, while UD panels require 96 cable pairs using the current interface, V-by-One®HS uses only 18 pairs. In addition, THine’s unique variable speed technology from 600 Mbps to 3.75 Gbps effectively meets the requirements of various different pixel rates. THine’s original equalizer technology achieves high video signal quality and total cost reduction by enabling use of lower cost cables/connectors and reducing components needed for control of EMI. THine has disclosed its V-by-One®HS technology as an open standard from this year for wide use in the television markets.
