THine discloses the full details of the technical specification of V-by-One®HS
TOKYO (May 26, 2007) -- THine Electronics, Inc. (JASDAQ:6769), the global leader in LDVS(*1) and other mixed-signal LSI for flat panel displays, discloses the full details of the technical specification of V-by-One®HS.
V-by-One® HS is developed to offer solutions for rapidly innovating FPD markets. By transmitting both data and clock signals through the same pair cable with Clock Data Recovery (CDR) technology as well as THine’s SerDes technologies, V-by-One®HS achieves high-speed data transmission of 3.75 Gbps and drastically improves the timing skew between signals on the different pair cables, achieves higher picture quality, lower electro-magnetic interference (EMI), and reduces power consumption, and total costs including cables or connectors.
These features of V-by-One® HS result in costs and developing period to solve the issues with LVDS. For example, full HD panels with double frame rate of 120 Hz require only 6 pairs with V-by-One®HS technology, while LVDS uses 24 pairs for the same data transmission. As results, V-by-One®HS is expected to reduce related costs, including cables and connectors, at most $15. Furthermore, ultra-high-definition (UD) display panels for high-resolution television of 4K x 2K (3840 x 2160) resolution requires four times more information than usual full HD panel with LVDS and increase the cost of cables and connectors, enabling system designers to reduce developing period and time-to-market. While 4K x 2K panels requires 96 pairs of cables with 30 bit LVDS interface or 80 pairs with 24 bit LVDS, V-by-One® HS uses only 18 pairs, less than 24 pairs for usual full HD panels with LVDS. As results, V-by-One®HS is expected to reduce related costs, including cables and connectors, at most $40.
Availability of the technical specification
The technical specification of V-by-One®HS is available today. THine discloses it to respond customers’ requests to achieve higher speed and improve quality of video signal transmission by wide availability of V-by-One®HS toward de-facto standard.
Simple version: The simple version of the technical specification of V-by-One®HS can be downloaded from THine’s web page,http://www.thine.co.jp/news/pdf/V-by-OneHS.pdf.Full detail version: The full detail version can be sent to customers from THine’s sales team by sending an email tosales@thine.co.jpwith sender’s information of the name, title, organization, company name, address and phone number.
In addition to disclosing the technical specification, THine plans to license related IPs (intellectual properties) for adopting customers as requested from the second quarter 2008 and also to start volume production of the chip set of THCV215 and THCV216 with V-by-One®HS technology in the fourth quarter 2008.
■Key benefits of V-by-One®HS
−High transmission quality with high performance equalizer in noisy conditions
−High data transmission quality solving cable skew problems with high speed SerDes(*2) using CDR technology
−Lower EMI with clock embedded transmission, no reference clock at receiver
−Reduction of total cost and board space by optimizing cables and connectors
−Seamless transition from LVDS to V-by-One® HS minimizing change of device input/output and peripheral design
−Lower energy consumption with variable transmission speed: 600 Mbps to 3.75 Gbps
−Ease of use by AC coupling
(*1) LVDS: Low Voltage Differential Signaling
(*2)SerDes: Serializer/Deserializer
