Partial transfer of equity of Shonai Wind-Power Generation Co., Ltd.
Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd.
Shonai Wind-Power Generation Co., Ltd.
Hitachi Engineering & Services Co., Ltd.
Hitachi Capital Corporation
Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd.(Mr. Tsuyoshi Okamoto, President, hereinafter referred to as
“Tokyo Gas”) has taken over 30.2% of issued shares of Shonai Wind-Power
Generation Co., Ltd. (Mr. Kazuo Suzuki, President, hereinafter referred to as
“Shonai Wind-Power Generation”) by third-party allocation of shares, where
Hitachi Engineering & Services Co., Ltd. (Mr. Teruhiro Takizawa, President,
hereinafter referred to as “Hitachi Engineering & Services”) and so forth are
making an investment. Tokyo Gas and Shonai Wind-Power Generation also
concluded sales and purchase agreement of environmental value certificate called
“Renewable Portfolio Standard” (Abbreviatied as “RPS”*), equivalent to about 10
GWh, 30% of projected annual amount of electricity generated by Yuza wind-power
plant operated by Shonai Wind-Power Generation. Shonai Wind-Power Generation
is operating 2 wind power plants ( total power output; 15,910 kW, projected annual
amount of electricity generated; 37 GWh) in Yamagata prefecture, including Yuza
wind-power plant , established in December, 2003 and commenced in December
2010.
* Electricity generated by renewables such as solar power, wind power, thermal and
biomass, is regarded to have an environmental value of no CO2 emission, in
addition to the value of electricity itself. The environmental value is tradable,
separated by the value of electricity itself, and a corporation which purchased the
environmental value is regarded as covered the purchased amount of electricity by
renewable generated electricity.
Tokyo Gas, with the increasing social conscience toward environment, will
contribute to the realization of low carbon emission society through purchasing and
utilizing RPS, participating in the operation of Shonai Wind-Power Generation, in
addition to energy supply mainly of city gas, and takes renewable energy to
examine the decentralized energy system aiming at an ideal form of regionwide
energy utilization. This is the second example of Tokyo Gas to participate in wind
power project, after the construction of wind power plant in Sodegaura LNG
terminal.
Hitachi Engineering & Services has concluded an agent contract in Japan of wind
power facility of ENERCON GmbH (Germany, hereinafter referred to as
“ENERCON”), whose facility is adopted by Shonai Wind-Power Generation, and
provides comprehensive design and service system from facility installation to
construction and maintenance.
Hitachi Capital Corporation (Mr. Kazuya Miura, President, hereinafter referred
to as “Hitachi Capital”) provides leasing service of wind power facility on Shonai
Wind-Power Generation.
Shonai Wind-Power Generation, Hitachi Engineering & Services, and Hitachi
Capital, with the participation of Tokyo Gas, will aim at more stabilized operation.
Tokyo Gas, Hitachi Engineering & Services, and Hitachi Capital also agreed to
examine concretely how wind power operation is able to contribute on CO2
reduction, as a way of tackling global warming, under the partnership of three
companies.
