Notification on the Impact of the Tohoku Earthquake
We wish to express our deepest sympathies to all those affected by the March 11, 2011 Tohoku Earthquake.
Nippon Flour Mills Co., Ltd. (Chairman, President, CEO & COO Hiroshi Sawada) established a Countermeasures Taskforce immediately following the tragedy (Taskforce Director: Chairman, President, CEO & COO Hiroshi Sawada), which channeled all of its energies toward confirming the safety of company employees and initiatives for stable product supply.
Effects from the disaster on the Group at this point are as follows.
1. Damage inflicted
(1) Personal safety
No harm came to any employees in the Group.
(2) Damage to business facilities
Mild damage was sustained at the office in Sendai.
(3) Damage to production facilities
Mild damage was sustained to some equipment in plants in Yokohama, Chiba, and Ryugasaki. Safety confirmation was concluded at the Yokohama and Chiba Factories, and operations and shipments have resumed at these facilities now. We have also finished safety confirmation procedures at the Ryugasaki Factory and plan to be capable of substantial shipments in the near future as soon as the safety of shipping and delivery equipment is confirmed.
2. Impact on earnings
At this time, we are carefully assessing the impact of damage from the earthquake and rolling blackouts on Group earnings. We will promptly issue notification if significant effects on FY2011/3 earnings appear likely.
