Response to Electric Power Shortages Resulting from
the Great East Japan Earthquake
We offer our sincere condolences to all those suffering as a result of the recent Great East Japan
Earthquake, and pray for the earliest recovery of the affected areas.
The MEDIPAL Group is doing everything it can, even during planned power outages, to continue to
provide a stable supply of pharmaceuticals, daily commodities and other products vital to people’s
lives and day-to-day living.
MEDICEO CORPORATION (“MEDICEO”), a wholly owned consolidated subsidiary of MEDIPAL
HOLDINGS CORPORATION (“MEDIPAL”) has been taking power-saving measures to cooperate in
ensuring a stable supply of electric power in the areas served by Tokyo Electric Power Company and
Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. As part of these measures,MEDICEO has formed an Electric Power-
Saving Committee. Details follow below.
1. About the Electric Power-Saving Committee
The committee is tasked with formulating power-saving measures to cooperate in ensuring a stable
supply of electric power. It will also implement power-saving measures in cooperation with MEDIPAL
Group companies.
With power shortages predicted this summer, the committee will study and implement the most
comprehensive power-saving initiatives possible in accordance with requests to cut back on electricity
consumption based on the “Outline of Electricity Supply-Demand Measures in Summer Time (Draft)”
announced by the Japanese government’s Electricity Supply-Demand Emergency Response
Headquarters.Measures will include drafting and implementing power-saving plans as a large- and
small-scale user, appealing to employees, their families and industry groups, and asking for
cooperation from customers.
