Gas Sales Volume for the month May 2011

Total gas sales volume by Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd., for the month of May 2011 came to about 1,036.098 million m3, decreased by 40.069 million m3 (-3.7%) from May 2010.

In the residential sector, volume totaled 277.915 million m3, down 12.8% from May 2010, due to higher average temperature in April and May than in the previous year, which decreased the demand for water-heating and air-conditioning.

In the business sector (consisting of commercial, public, and medical use), with fewer metering days compared to last May and the decreased operation rate on the part of existing facilities, the volume decreased by 17.0% to 174.297 million m3.

In the industrial sector, volume totaled about 418.93 million m3, up 8.0% from last year due to existing customers’ demand increase, etc.

Volume for wholesale supply to other gas companies totaled about 164.957 million m3, up 3.3% from May 2010 due to increased demand of wholesale gas suppliers.

The total gas sales volume for the cumulative period of April to May 2011 was 2,212.878 million m3, down by 3.6%.
