Power-saving Measures of Mizuho
We would like to express our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to everyone
who has suffered as a result of the recent Great East Japan Earthquake.
Due to the effect of the recent Great East Japan Earthquake, power supply in areas
covered by The Tokyo Electric Power Company, Inc. and Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc.
has considerably decreased, and this summer’s power supply-demand balance is likely
to deteriorate. Given such circumstances, the government’s Electricity Supply-Demand
Emergency Response Headquarters have developed “Electricity supply-demand
measures in summer time”, and power-saving initiatives have become critically
important in country-wide basis.
Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. (President & CEO: Yasuhiro Sato) and its group
companies have already taken power-saving measures to date. Nevertheless, with
recent circumstances in mind, we will further broaden our power-saving efforts as
described below, thereby cutting power usage by 15 percent as a group.
While we actively implement the following measures, our branch offices and non-branch
ATMs will operate as usual in order to ensure our customers convenience. Meanwhile,
we will end the reduced operating hours of ATM corners at Mizuho Bank, Ltd., and will
operate them as usual from June 24, 2011.
With these initiatives in place, we aim to fully contribute to the recovery of the Japanese
economy by providing beneficial financial services to customers who are facing
difficulties in the aftermath.
