Nippon Express building multifunctional Laem Chabang Logistics Center in Thailand

Hi-Tech Nittsu (Thailand) Co., Ltd., (“Hi-Tech Thailand”; Hiroyuki Arikawa, President), a subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Kenji Watanabe, President), is constructing a new warehouse in eastern Thailand – the Laem Chabang Logistics Center – scheduled to go into operation in February 2012.

Thailand’s development as one of Southeast Asia’s more advanced industrial countries has been accelerated by the automotive and electronic equipment industries, and the national government’s policies to attract factories have spurred infrastructure improvements via industrial parks, highways and port facilities. Thailand’s central location within Southeast Asia also underlies the rapid expansion in exports to other countries that supplement domestic demand, allowing the country to look forward to even greater growth.

The new Laem Chabang Logistics Center will feature two warehouses offering 30,000m2 and 20,000m2 of space respectively, with a 7,500m2 all-weather multifunctional work area at the center of the site. Vehicles will have direct access to this area, and the warehouse’s raised and flat loading docks will enable all types of cargo to be handled. With a marine cargo container stockyard to be set up on the extensive premises to facilitate container arrangements in line with customer needs, the Center will enable Hi-Tech Thailand to address a variety of logistics needs.

The construction site at the Hemaraj Logistics Park is only about 18km from Laem Chabang, Thailand’s largest port, and is situated along a highway linking many large-scale industrial parks populated by automotive manufacturers and other companies. It also enjoys a favorable location about an hour by car from both central Bangkok and Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport, offering great promise as a logistics hub bringing together ground, marine and air cargo transport.
