About the Shiseido Female Researcher Science Grant Shiseido established the Shiseido Female Researcher Science Grant, a program that supports the research activities of exceptional women majoring in the natural sciences, with the goal of helping foster the development of a new generation of leading female researchers. While typical research subsidies are restricted to the purchase of items such as reagents and equipment, funds from Shiseido’s grant program can also be applied to expenses associated with hiring a research assistant, a decision that reflects Shiseido’s commitment to supporting female researchers’ ability to continue their research work without being influenced by life-stage responsibilities such as childbirth, raising children, or providing nursing care for other family members.
In the program’s first year, Shiseido received 132 proposals during the submission period from
October 20 to December 27, 2007. Of these, the company awarded ¥1 million to each of nine selected researchers. Today, these nine women continue to dedicate themselves in pursuing their research activities.
