Large-scale Real-time Data Analysis Trial Project Wins
2011 Sybase Innovator Awards
Sep. 20, 2011
NTT DATA CORPORATION
NTT DATA CORPORATION on September 13 was named winner of a 2011 Innovator Award by Sybase, Inc. for a large-scale real-time data analysis trial project using the BRIMOS bridge monitoring system. Innovator Awards are given to Sybase customers or partners who have demonstrated the most innovative use of Sybase® technologies, creating cutting-edge applications and driving success for their organizations
Overview of Sybase Innovator Awards
Sybase Innovator Awards are granted to recognize the creation of innovative applications using Sybase technology. A small number of awards are given each year to enterprises throughout the world who are customers or partners of Sybase.
Awards are presented in the following three categories.
- Manage - enabling robust data access and movement
- Analyze- delivering value to the enterprise from data assets
- Mobilize - empowering enterprise mobility or enabling mobile messaging services (interoperability, content delivery or mCommerce)
NTT DATA has been selected for an award, in recognition of our application for analyzing sensor data to detect structural problems in bridges. The application makes use of the high-speed data analysis platform Sybase RAP - The Trading Edition® along with the real-time data analysis engine Sybase Aleri Streaming Platform.
Overview of the Large-scale Real-time Data Analysis Trial Project
The project recognized in this award is an NTT DATA initiative in proactive BI, provision of business intelligence services and information in advance by anticipating user needs based on behavior and events. As one such service, we are developing large-scale real-time data analysis technology targeting life log and sensor data.
The bridge monitoring system BRIMOS used in the trial project analyzes data from dozens of sensors installed in a bridge, which measure physical quantities such as displacement, incline, and strain, producing thousands of data samples each second. The trial was implemented using Sybase solutions for routine conversion processing and for the processing necessary for making overall decisions from data collected by multiple sensors and detecting abnormal conditions. The trial results confirmed ample processing capability for handling these operations. Simulated testing, moreover, assuming as many as 10,000 sensors demonstrated the ability to perform real-time analysis of hundreds of thousands of data samples per second.
