Gas Sales Volume for the month September 2011

Total gas sales volume by Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd., for the month of September 2011 came to about 1,011.996 million m3, increased by 33.049 million m3 (+3.4%) from September 2010.

In the residential sector, volume totaled 136.476 million m3, up 20.0% from September 2010, owing to the increased demand for water-heating due to lower average temperature in August and September, and more metering days according to the metering schedule, compared to last year.

In the business sector (consisting of commercial, public, and medical use), due to the lower average temperature in August and September leading to the decreased demand for air-conditioning as well as to lower operation rate on the part of existing facilities, the volume decreased by 12.1% to 242.184 million m3.

In the industrial sector, volume totaled about 464.601 million m3, up 11.7% from last year due to higher operation rate of existing customers’ facilities, etc.

Volume for wholesale supply to other gas companies totaled about 168.735 million m3, down 2.9% from September 2010 due to decreased demand of wholesale gas suppliers.

Gas Sales Volume for the first half of fiscal 2011

Gas sales volume in the first half of fiscal 2011 (April - September 2011) totaled about 6,255.709million m3, down by 1.3 % from the same period in fiscal year 2010.

Of this total, the residential sector accounted for 1,273.329 million m3, down by 3.1% from the first half of fiscal year 2010. The decrease was due to the higher temperature in spring, which led to decreased demand for water-heating and space-heating.

Sales in the business sector amounted to 1,276.275 million m3, down by 14.1% from the same period of previous year, owing to lower operation rate on the part of existing facilities.

In the industrial sector, the volume totaled about 2,684.194 million m3, 7.2% up from the first half of fiscal 2010, due to the increased demand of existing customers.

Volume for wholesale supply to gas companies totaled about 1,021.912 million m3, down by 1.0% from the first half of fiscal 2010, due to decreased demand of wholesale gas suppliers.
