ULVAC-RIKO, Inc.（Head office : Yokohama, Kanagawa; President and CEO : Yoshikazu Ishii）has developed a system called “Laser Flash Method Thermal Constant Measuring System TC-1200RH”, which enables stable measurement in low temperature ranges and drastically cut down the measurement time, and will launch the sales on November 17, 2011.

【Products Outlines】

In recent years, as the demand for energy has been sharply increasing across the world, more attentions have been drawn to energy researches for renewable energy and sustainable development. Among them, especially electrical heating materials and electrical heating systems, which can generate electricity from waste heat energy that had been thrown away so far, have attracted more attentions. To develop electrical heating materials, evaluations in a low-temperature range(from room temperature to 200ºC)in which it’s easy to reuse waste heat and reduction of measurement time to evaluate more samples have been required.
But indicators adopting the existing resistance furnaces take hours to get a stable temperature in a low-temperature range. Moreover, it also needs more time to raise temperature and be cooled down after measurement. So, only one measurement per day is possible.
TC-1200RH, which we will present today, has adopted infrared gold image furnace as a heating furnace to fill the demand for reducing the measurement time in a low-temperature range.
In the laser flash method, the temperature changes of samples are measured by infrared sensors. When using the infrared　gold　image　furnace, it was difficult to measure a sample’s temperature with the existing technique because infrared lights from both an infrared lamp and a sample were mixed. So we have developed a technique to separate both infrared lights, the patent of which we have already acquired, enabling measurement of the temperature change by infrared sensors during infrared lamp heating.
This unique technique has made measurement possible during infrared lamp heating, achieved a stable temperature in a low-temperature range(from room temperature to 200ºC), which was difficult to get when using a resistance furnace, and high-speed rising temperature and cooling down, leading to 1/4 measurement time compared with our existing systems.
