Shin-Yokohama and Osaka
Hands-on programs and new career advisor services help engineers hit
the ground running
Staffing services company RADIA HOLDINGS, INC. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Shinichi Horii) is pleased to announce the simultaneous opening on April 13 of new "Radia University" training centers in Shin-Yokohama and Osaka. Open to all employees of the RADIA Group, the centers will offer a curriculum designed to improve customer satisfaction by developing and upgrading technical skills and capacity. They aim to give engineers the professional knowledge they need to hit the ground running, with a professional curriculum focused on mechanical design, electrical and electronic design and information technology. In conjunction with the opening of the training centers, the company will also begin offering consultations with "Career Design Advisors," who are expert staff assigned to provide career development support to engineers. The training system will enable engineers to maintain their knowledge and skills at the levels required by client companies while also providing fine tuned assistance in developing new skills, opening new career paths and maintaining mental and spiritual health.
Radia University will begin by using the training methods developed by Applied Learning System (ALeSys; Alachua, Florida, USA) to maintain and improve the techniques of its trainers.
There will be 5 full-time trainers assigned to engineer training at Shin-Yokohama and 4 at Osaka; there will also be 3 trainers for the training aimed at sales and administrative staff. Sales training will include a specialized, professional curriculum focused on either existing clients or new prospects.
Some 20 employees have been selected as Career Design Advisors and will receive professional training by qualified career consultants and industrial counselors at Radia University. The company will also assign professional instructional designers and curriculum developers to the development of Radia University's curriculum.
Radia University is part of a program launched by RADIA Group in April to strengthen its human resources development and will work in coordination with outside training institute's to offer a systematic curriculum to all employees.
More specifically, the company will provide a systematic, programmed mechanism for skills acquisition that offers increasingly advanced challenges to employees according to their abilities: 1) distance-learning from JTEX; 2) basic training in CAD, embedded software and information systems

Radia University projects approximately 2,000 students each at the Shin-Yokohama and Osaka locations during the first year. The entire training program, including offerings from outside partners, will provide training opportunities for the entire group staff.
