Hitachi Chemical to Enhance Production Capacity of its Powder Metal Products Manufacturing Subsidiary in China
- Doubling Sales Targeted in FY 2015 -
Chinese subsidiary of Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazuyuki Tanaka; Capital: 15.5 billion yen; hereinafter referred to as "Hitachi Chemical"), Hitachi Powdered Metals (Dongguan) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "HPMD"), a manufacturer of powder metal products, is to enhance production capacity through construction of a new factory within its existing site in response to increasing demand from the Chinese auto market. Production is planned to commence at the new factory in autumn 2012.
The Chinese auto market is expected to grow by 10% per annum. HPMD manufactures powder metal products for the Hitachi Chemical Group. Hitachi Chemical Group also manufactures friction materials and lead batteries, while a plant for interior and exterior plastic molded products is currently under construction. HPMD has technical expertise in power metal product manufacturing for automobiles and construction machinery. The company is to strengthen production capacity in response to increasing demand of the Chinese market. In addition to products currently manufactured at the site, production of sintered bearings, which are seeing increasing demand in China, is to commence. We aim to double overall sales of powder metal products in FY 2015(based on 2011 volumes).
With powder metal product manufacturing locations in Japan, China, the US, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and India (to commence operation in April 2013), Hitachi Chemical Group has the capacity to supply products to meet the demands of its clients globally, and is striving to improve service to further increase customer satisfaction.
