Otsuka Pharmaceutical To Boost Production Capacity and Increase Sales with Third Pocari Sweat Plant in Guandong Province,China
- Pocari Sweat sales in China have reached 13 times more than the sales nine years ago when Pocari Sweat has launched.

Tokyo, Japan ― Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President: Taro Iwamoto) announced today that its subsidiary Otsuka Sims (Guangdong) Beverage Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Guangdong province; President: Kazuhiko Yo; hereafter Guangdong Beverage) completed construction on its second Pocari Sweat plant, located in Jiangmen City of Guangdong Province, China. A ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of construction.
With the new facility, our production base in China now totals three plants, including the Tianjin factory. In order to meet the increasing demand, the new capacity will help achieve the goal of broadening and strengthening our sales in Shanghai City and Guangdong Province.
Otsuka Pharmaceutical began business in China 31 years ago as a first Japanese pharmaceutical corporation.*1 Our first venture was in the I.V. solutions business. We built up trust in the market centering on relationships in the healthcare industry, then Pocari Sweat in 2003.*2 Now, after 9 years, Pocari Sweat sales volume has reached 13 times more than the sales in the first year.
This brand-new plant will meet China’s increasing demand for Pocari Sweat and it has a unique feature with the concept of Fun & Informative factory which is rarely seen in China.
