Hitachi Chemical continues to be selected for the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index for four consecutive years

Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo; President & CEO: Kazuyuki Tanaka; Capital: 15.5 billion yen; hereafter referred to as "Hitachi Chemical") has been selected as a constituent member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (hereinafter referred to as "DJSI AP"), one of the major indices for Socially Responsible Investment (SRI), for four consecutive years.

The DJSI AP is a new index implemented in January 2009 as one of the SRI indexes series that has been developed jointly by the United States' Dow Jones & Company, Switzerland's SAM (Sustainable Asset Management) Group Holding AG., and STOXX Limited. The index evaluates the sustainability of 600 major companies based in the Asia-Pacific region from economic, environmental, and social perspectives, and selects companies that are ranked in the top 25 percent. Sustainability evaluation is reviewed in September each year. While newly 14 companies were added, and 15 companies were deleted from the Asia Pacific Index in this year's review, which is released on September 13, 2012, Hitachi Chemical has been selected for four years in a row since 2009.
