Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo; President & CEO: Kazuyuki Tanaka; hereinafter referred to as "Hitachi Chemical") today announces that Hitachi Chemical acquired the semiconductor encapsulating materials business (excluding encapsulating materials business for optical semiconductors) from Nitto Denko Corporation (Head Office: Osaka; President: Yukio Nagira; hereinafter referred to as "Nitto Denko"), as announced in the press release on April 27, 2012, "Completion of Contract to Transfer (Acquire) a Semiconductor Encapsulating Materials Business (Excluding Encapsulating Materials Business for Optical Semiconductors)." With its transfer, the two Nitto Denko's subsidiaries operating semiconductor encapsulating materials business became Hitachi Chemical's wholly-owned subsidiaries and start their operations.
The Transfer enables Hitachi Chemical to establish a strong market position in the semiconductor encapsulating materials business through adding the new product lines and expanding the sales channels, and realize synergies with other semiconductor related material businesses
