SIOS Partners with Microsoft Japan in Cloud Field
Begins “SIOS OSS Yorozu Sodanshitsu for Cloud” OSS Support Service for Windows Azure™
SIOS Technology, Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Mr. Nobuo KITA; hereinafter referred to as SIOS; listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers Index, number 3744) has entered into a partnership agreement with Microsoft Japan Company, Limited (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yasuyuki Higuchi; hereinafter referred to as Microsoft Japan) to provide support service for open source software (hereinafter referred to as OSS) running on Windows Azure™, Microsoft’s public cloud platform. Today, they began offering the new “SIOS OSS Yorozu Sodanshitsu for Cloud” support service for Windows Azure™ for corporations using OSS in cloud environments.
“SIOS OSS Yorozu Sodanshitsu”, which has been offered since June 2007, is a paid help desk-style support service in which technical support staff well-versed in OSS present investigation results, workarounds, and advice regarding problems and issues companies face when utilizing OSS. As the number of cases of OSS usage by companies has grown, the service scope has expanded to include support for over 80 types of OSS.
As more and more companies have come to utilize cloud computing in their information systems, the new “SIOS OSS Yorozu Sodanshitsu for Cloud” has been developed in response to frequent requests by information system managers for OSS support for systems which are built on the public cloud. It expands the previous “SIOS OSS Yorozu Sodanshitsu” support scope to include cloud environments, providing OSS support for systems built on Windows Azure™.
SIOS will continue to work with a variety of cloud services in the future, proactively supporting the utilization of OSS in corporate cloud environments.
