NTN will run an exhibit at “Tokyo Motor Show 2013” with the theme “NTN’s Overriding Technologies Support the Future of Vehicles.”
The NTN booth will feature next-generation EV system products and other module products designed with electrification in mind, as well as a wide range of products that contribute to better efficiency and lighter weight of vehicles.
The stage within the booth will be used for the “Q’mo II” two-seater electric commuter concept car equipped with NTN’s EV systems to demonstrate its “Pivot turn” and “Lateral move” functionalities. Be sure to check out the impressive visuals combined with the characteristic Q’mo moves.

An EV system product featuring the world’s lightest class in-wheel motor that can be mounted directly within a wheel and equipped with a cycloid reducer mechanism, hub bearing and various sensors, and includes a control system consisting of an inverter. Mounting the motor directly to the wheel allows more effective use of free space and greater design flexibility for vehicles. |

| Rear-wheel Independent Steering System |
| The technology of steering system for steer-by-wire that changes the steering angle to the appropriate electrical signal to drive the wheel-turning actuator, and changes the direction of the tires (wheel-turning) has been specially developed for rear wheel applications as a reference exhibition. An integrated system controls both sides to steer the rear wheels, and also allows control of the toe angle to contribute to better driving performance. |

A thin and lightweight module product designed for CVT and the electrification of various other actuators. The use of a ball screw with minimal rolling resistance helps to reduce drive force and electrical force losses due to pulley operation. The hollow screw shaft can be positioned along the same shaft as the pulley shaft to make CVTs more compact in size. |

High Performance Lightweight Hub Joint (PCS-H/J)

High Performance Deep Groove Ball Bearing for Transmission
This high thrust load deep groove ball bearing drastically improves thrust capacity by optimizing the shape of bearing ring groove and employing a newly designed assembly cage, integrated with a seal that self-forms minute gaps between the inner ring and seal. The bearing also features special heat treatment technology to improve anti-indention, and is capable of replacing tapered rolling bearings for major reductions in torque. |

Social demonstration projects are being conducted around the world using electric commuters equipped with the In-wheel motor with the aim of accelerating development of advanced technology and faster uptake of EV and next-generation vehicles.
