Hitachi Chemical Selected for RobecoSAM`s The Sustainability Yearbook 2014

Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazuyuki Tanaka; Capital: 15.5 billion yen; hereinafter referred to as "Hitachi Chemical") was selected as one of 20 companies involved in the chemical industry to be listed in The Sustainability Yearbook 2014, the most authoritative publication in the field of sustainability, published by the Swiss international investment company RobecoSAM.

RobecoSAM has published The Sustainability Yearbook every year since 2004. Based on the score of the company`s annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment, the best global companies in terms of sustainability are selected on an industry basis, and listed in The Sustainability Yearbook.
Twenty chemical companies from across the globe were selected for The Sustainability Yearbook 2014. Hitachi Chemical was one of three Japanese companies selected for inclusion to this year`s edition.

Hitachi Chemical has also been selected for the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index-for which RobecoSAM heads research-for five consecutive years since 2009. This is the first time Hitachi Chemical has been listed in The Sustainability Yearbook. Encouraged by these honors, Hitachi Chemical will intensify its efforts to further improve its compliance, corporate governance, environmental conservation as well as social contribution activities, thus helping to build a prosperous and vigorous society through the development of new products and a range of business activities.
