LECIP INC. (Illinois, USA, CEO Kazuo Ueno), a consolidated subsidiary of LECIP HOLDINGS CORPORATION (Motosu-City, Gifu, Japan, President Makoto Sugimoto), received an order for an Automated Fare Collection (AFC) Farebox System for fixed route and Paratransit buses from Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) , Iowa, the United States.

LECIP INC. (Illinois, USA, CEO Kazuo Ueno), a consolidated subsidiary of LECIP HOLDINGS CORPORATION (Motosu-City, Gifu, Japan, President Makoto Sugimoto), received an order for an Automated Fare Collection (AFC) Farebox System for fixed route and Paratransit buses from Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) , Iowa, the United States.
Contract price is approximately 300 million yen. Expected delivery is in the Spring of 2016.
1.Background
DART is the largest public transit agency in Iowa and operates approximately 150 buses in 19 cities. DART’s current fare collection system is over 25 years old, and DART has been seeking to replace it with a new, high quality and state-of-the-art system.
2.Outline
The new AFC Farebox System collects bus fare by processing coins, bills and smart cards. Also, it sends data, such as when and where the passengers board the bus to DART’s database. With this procurement, all fixed route buses will have our new AFC Farebox System so that passengers can pay the bus fare quickly and conveniently. We will also provide DART with new bus vaults a central reporting and management System, maintenance and training.
For LECIP group, this is the fourth major fare collection contract following Santa Monica’s Big Blue Bus in California, Transit Authority of River City in Kentucky and Clark County Public Transit Benefit Area in Washington.
