Subaru Reaches 15 Million Production of Horizontally-Opposed "Boxer" Engines

Tokyo, February 17, 2015 - Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, today announced that total cumulative production of Subaru's horizontally-opposed "Boxer" engines*1 has reached 15 million units*2. The 15 million milestone was achieved in the 49th year since FHI developed the all-new horizontally-opposed water-cooled four-cylinder aluminum engine and adopted it in the Subaru 1000 compact passenger vehicle in May 1966.
