Nippon Express addresses diversification of US-Mexico cross-border logistics in Mexico
25 June 2009
-- Nippon Express USA de Tijuana renamed NEX Global Logistics de Mexico --
Nippon Express USA de Tijuana, S.A. de C.V. (“NE Tijuana”; Nobuyuki Miyajima, President), a subsidiary of Nippon Express U.S.A., Inc. (Kenryo Senda, President), has been renamed NEX Global Logistics de Mexico, S.A. de C.V., effective June 1, 2009.
Established in 2006 in the Tijuana area, NE Tijuana registered with the Service IMMEX Program* in 2007 and introduced Nippon Express' proprietary REWARDS warehousing management information system to provide services centered on the import of raw materials and parts primarily from Japan and Asia and the storage and distribution processing of finished and semi-finished products. After opening a Monterrey Sales Office in May 2008, NE Tijuana supplemented its logistics operations from San Diego, California to Tijuana, Mexico with bonded door-to-door transport operations from Laredo, Texas to Monterrey as it sought to diversify and expand its transport services.
The recent name change was intended to reflect that fact that the company provides broad-ranging and enhanced logistics services outside of Tijuana as well, including transport services to Mexico from other cities in the US (Phoenix, Tucson, and El Paso).
This year marks the 400th anniversary of the start of exchange between Japan and Mexico. Customer companies are focusing attention on the promising Latin American market in addition to the US market, and Mexico will likely grow in importance as a production site close to both markets.
The Nippon Express Group operates a total of eight locations in Mexico, six under Nippon Express de Mexico, S.A. de C.V. (Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Manzanillo, Aguascalientes, and Querétaro) and two under NEX Global Logistics Mexico (Tijuana and Monterrey).
The Nippon Express Group will continue to make full use of NE Mexico's import/export operations, overseas removals and other popular total logistics services as well as NEX Global Logistics Mexico's support for processing trade in Mexico transiting the US to develop a full spectrum of logistics services that meet customer needs.
