-- NE Russia opens new warehouse in Moscow suburbs --
15 June 2009
Nippon Express (Russia) LLC ("NE Russia", president: Kenji Kaneko), a subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (president: Masanori Kawai), today began operations at its new Moscow Distribution Center (DC) recently constructed in the Rogachevsky Logistics Park in northern Moscow.
NE Russia has been utilizing the warehouses of cooperating companies (agents) to offer product storage, parts distribution, import/export arrangements, distribution within Russia and other services primarily to Japanese customers, but these logistics operations will be consolidated into the new warehouse and further upgraded.
The new warehouse is within easy reach of arterial highways leading to Sheremetyevo Airport and St. Petersburg Port and is thus an optimal location for international transport. Ready access to roadways and railways covering the entire country also enable the warehouse to meet domestic logistics needs.
The new facility will use REWARDS, Nippon Express' proprietary global WMS, making it possible to improve the efficiency of logistics operations in the European region by coordinating inventory control at locations worldwide and using Nippon Express networks linking the Moscow DC to warehouse locations throughout Europe.
Nippon Express has led the way in providing transport services to Russia, offering consolidated air cargo shipments and VMI service via offshore warehouses in Finland among a diversity of other services. Although the Russian economy has been dealt a blow by the worldwide economic slowdown, Nippon Express regards Russia as one of the regions with the greatest growth potential due to its large population and extensive resources. The recently opened warehouse will offer air, ocean and ground transport services, and future enhancements are planned to address the logistics needs of customers in Russia.
