Nippon Express Reinforces Logistics Operations to/from Central Europe
NED opens new Crystal Park Warehouse in Torun, Poland
29 May 2009
On May 4 Nippon Express (Deutschland) GmbH (NED; Yoshiaki Ishii, President), a local subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Masanori Kawai, President), opened a new Crystal Park Warehouse (approx. 15,700m2) in an expansion of the Torun Logistics Center situated within the Crystal Park industrial complex on the outskirts of Torun, Poland.
Paired with a warehouse (approx. 16,700 m2) opened in Torun two years ago, the new warehouse makes the Torun Logistics Center under NED's Poland Branch a two-facility location. As with other locations, Nippon Express' REWARDS system, a proprietary global warehouse management system (WMS), has been introduced at the new warehouse, which will provide high-quality services such as parts/materials storage and Just-in-Time (JIT) supply to digital household appliance factories, its mainstay customers.
NED is currently linking up its branches and warehouse locations in three Central European countries (Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary) with truck transport networks inside and outside the European Union. The Torun Logistics Center is directly tied into the high-speed transfer network that uses Nippon Express locations in Frankfurt, Hamburg and Amsterdam as gateways, and will support customers' supply chains through Nippon Express' European and worldwide networks.
The Nippon Express Group has kept pace with the expansion of the EU's economic zone in extending its own network and, to enable its operations to respond flexibly to the diverse and ever-growing logistics needs of customers and to improve its level of service, Nippon Express will continue to upgrade and broaden its European network.
