HitachiSoft and Salesforce.com Join Forces to Win New Business from Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking for Salesforce Platform
Customized solution built on Apex platform satisfies bank's strict security criteria in over 100 categories while accommodating specific demands for real estate operations
TOKYO, April 16, 2007 - HitachiSoft, together with Salesforce.com, Inc., the market and technology leader in on-demand business services, today announced a new client for deployment of the Salesforce on-demand application, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation.
As the leading trust bank in Japan, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation, through its real estate operations, brokers 6,000 real estate transactions annually with a net value of ¥1.6 trillion (based on consolidated results in fiscal 2005, including the results of Mitsubishi UFJ Real Estate Services Co., Ltd.). The bank has an overwhelming presence in the field of real estate securitization, with the value of real estate in trust exceeding ¥7 trillion. In order to build infrastructure to accommodate ongoing changes in the real estate market, which include the diversifying use of real estate to raise capital and its increasing role as a vehicle for investment as evidenced by the securitization market, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation has embarked on plans to build an integrated next-generation system. The goals of the system integration project, which was launched in the summer of 2006, are to achieve integrated central management of information managed by multiple in-house systems, while securing a flexible level of scalability to accommodate evolving future needs. In addition, the system integration aims to deliver leading-edge security including the ability to configure detailedaccess authorities, which is necessitated by the need for stricter information management in recent years.
In evaluating potential solutions, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation considered solutions from about 10 different vendors before selecting the Salesforce solution, which among other requirements satisfies the bank?fs strict security criteria in over 100 categories. In deciding to deploy the Salesforce solution, the bank gave the application particularly high marks for its system viability and customizability as well as low initial cost. The bank also considered the short lead time to deployment, which is less than half the lead time required for competitors?f products, as well as the system integration capabilities of HitachiSoft for deployment of the Salesforce solution.
Salesforce is already used by 29,800 companies and 646,000 users across the globe. It boasts a strong track record in the finance industry, where it is used by enterprises such as Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. and its 25,000 users. The strong track record of the Salesforce solution was a major factor in leading the Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation to conclude that Salesforce offers the highest viability of any software as a service (SaaS) solution.
The specific business requirements of the project by Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation are described below.
A. As a trust bank, the real estate projects handled by Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation frequently require involvement from numerous internal departments to offer clients not only expertise in real estate transactions but also comprehensive proposals that incorporate all the financial benefits to clients. There is also a frequent need to restrict the number of individuals with access to information in order to effectively manage critical information belonging to clients, which in turn demands the ability to precisely configure authorities for information access. B. In its real estate brokerage operations, the bank routinely handles a large number of requests for real estate disposal and acquisition. This requires effective management of commercial negotiations between buyers and sellers, carefully tracking the properties for sale that have been introduced to each prospective buyer. C. Salesforce meets requirement A through its standard features and is customizable to satisfy the demands of requirement B using the Apex on-demand platform, while also enabling system integration within a short lead time. In comparing Salesforce with competitor solutions, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation chose Salesforce for its clear advantage in terms of both feasibility and short development time for customization. Salesforce also received high marks for its unmatched flexibility and ability to satisfy strict information security requirements.
For deployment of Salesforce, HitachiSoft will provide various services including customization using the Apex platform and consulting related to deployment, as well as development of linkages with backbone systems. HitachiSoft has been a reseller of Salesforce since 2005 and is responsible for the single largest deployment of Salesforce in Japan to date, whose scale encompasses several thousand users. This and other projects have enabled HitachiSoft to gain invaluable consulting and system integration expertise for Salesforce. HitachiSoft was also chosen by the Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation for its strong track record in system integration linked to backbone systems, as well as its extensive knowledge of the trust bank?fs operations gained through deployment of HitachiSoft?fs Hibun information security solution at the bank.
Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation will roll out the system starting in the fall of 2007, activating it for 600 users initially at its real estate division and sales branches across Japan.
