RSA Security and HitachiSoft Have Established General Business Tie-up
Concerning Information Security Solutions
- For Enhanced Security by Combining One-time Password "RSA SecurID" with HitachiSoft's "Hibun"-
RSA Security, Inc. (based in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo with Osamu Yamano as the president, hereafter called RSA Security) and HitachiSoft (based in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo with Takeo Ogawa as the CEO and president) have agreed on establishing a general business tie-up in sales and marketing for improving information security solutions and increasing the market share. Based on this tie-up both companies will promote joint development in addition to joint marketing of products, solutions and services centering on the information security solution business featuring successful performance in the past. To cope with frequent occurrence of personal information disclosure accidents and perfect enforcement of The Act for protection of Computer Processed Personal Data Held by Administrative Organs from April next year, companies are compelled to establish internal information security protection means. HitachiSoft having the top share in encryption products in Japan and RSA Security having the top share in the domestic one-time password market have tied up to integrate their security solution proposing capabilities so as to offer highly valuable solutions to customers. Most information disclosures are said to originate from client PCs and the recording media such as floppy disks and USB memories. HitachiSoft's "Hibun Advanced Edition Information Cypher (Hibun AE IC)" is effective for preventive actions. "Hibun AE IC" implements encryption of the Disk drive in the client PC as well as external storage media to prevent information disclosure from stolen or left PCs or lost media. Internal users in companies mostly use handy passwords easy to be guessed or wiretapped, causing a problem in the sturdiness of security. One of the effective means for unified user account management and for solving password security is one-time password authentication using new password each time. RSA Security's "RSA SecurID for Microsoft Windows" uses one-time password that changes every 60 seconds for Windows login. It complies with to Microsoft Active Directory' s domain authentication to enable the client PC to perform simple but sturdy user login always in the same manner in the online state connected to the network, offline state at visiting locations and in case of remote access to provide a solution for marked improvement of the degree of security. By combination of these two products, you can obtain stronger security against information disclosure from left or stolen PCs as well as stronger in-housel security. HitachiSoft and RAS Security will jointly promote cooperation and creation of new solutions with enhanced authentication using Hibun series products other than Hibun AE IC.
