Hitachi Software to Release "Cut & Paste Workshop (Kirihari Kyoshitsu)" Edit/Presentation
- Software with Easy-to-use Text/Sound/Photo/Video Editing Capabilities for School Education -
- It is possible to link to web sites from this software. -
Hitachi Software (President: Hiroyuki Kanekiyo, Headquarters: Yokohama) released the multimedia editing software "Cut & Paste Workshop" for school education in April 2001. According to the Education and Science Ministry of Japan, every primary school and junior high school has already introduced PCs for student education. The Ministry plans to increase the number of PCs to 5.4 units per student by 2005. However, the software used in some schools is not easy to use for students or teachers unfamiliar with PCs.
Cut & Paste Workshop allows objects gathered by students, such as photos and sounds, to be put together to create a work item, just like patching articles to make a wall newspaper.
With this software, students can create projects easily by patching multimedia objects such as photos, videos, sound, and text on the mount. They can also create work items using a button to open another mount or a multimedia work item that makes a sound or plays a video when the mount is opened, simply by dragging and clicking the mouse.
Since the Patch Lessen can export such works in HTML format, it is possible to use it to create a home page.
Patch Lessen can be used for various lessons that make full use of students' creativity, such as town expeditions, making class papers, and making reports on experiments/observation tours.
Features:
1. Ideal for comprehensive learning.
Cut & Paste Workshop meets the requirements stated in the New Teaching Guide issued by the Education and Science Ministry, i.e., teaching how to represent students' ideas creatively, how to use computers and communication networks, and how to study, think, and make judgments independently.
2. Easy-to-use interface
Since most of the operations are achieved by dragging and dropping the objects and components with a mouse, the interface is very easy to use.
3. LAN support
It is possible to send or share work between members of a group for group production or presentation.
4. Inclusion of objects from web pages
Cut & Paste Workshop allows users to include photos on Web pages displayed via Internet Explorer.
5. Output in HTML format
All the functions including the concurrent operation of stacked buttons can be exported in HTML format. This makes it easier to create web pages with advanced functions to deliver information via the Internet or CD-ROMs
6. Setting for each lesson
Using Cut & Paste Workshop for teachers, the teacher can set students' PCs for each lesson simply by setting the teacher's PC. It is possible to change the terms and notation of the menus for shared holders referred to by every student and/or limit the functions according to the grade.
